Safeguarding, Standards & Policies

Built around the UK DfE online education standards.

The UK Department for Education’s Online Education Accreditation Scheme sets out standards across eight areas for providers of full-time online education. We’ve used that framework, in full, to shape how our school is run.

Metaverse School & College is a new school. We are building every part of our provision — curriculum, staffing, safeguarding and governance — to meet the standards below from day one, and we will publish our formal accreditation and registration status here as soon as it is confirmed with the relevant bodies.

Standards 1 & 2

Quality of education: curriculum & teaching

A broad, ambitious curriculum mapped to recognised exam board specifications, delivered through live teaching by qualified staff, with regular assessment and clear feedback on how every student is progressing against their targets.

Standards 3

Spiritual, moral, social & cultural development

Form time, assemblies and enrichment activities that help students develop their own values, understand right from wrong, work well with others, and understand both fundamental British values and their own cultural identity.

Standards 4

Welfare, health & safety

A trained Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy, daily attendance monitoring with follow-up on any student who doesn’t log in, a monitored lesson platform with no unsupervised student-to-student messaging, and clear procedures for raising a welfare or safeguarding concern. We have regard to the Department for Education’s Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance and the Prevent Duty.

Standards 5

Suitability of staff & proprietors

Every member of staff, including supply and associate teachers, undergoes identity verification, an enhanced DBS check (or the equivalent in their home country), reference checks and verification of teaching qualifications before appointment. We maintain a single central record of these checks, and our proprietors and leadership have undergone the same suitability checks required of any independent school.

Standards 6

Provision of information

We publish our curriculum, fee structure, complaints procedure and the contact details for our Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead.

If you require any other information, policy or clarification, pelase contact admissions@metaverseschoolcollege.uk.

Standards 7

How complaints are handled

We want small concerns to be resolved quickly, and serious ones to be handled fairly and thoroughly. Every complaint is logged and reviewed, regardless of how it’s resolved.

Stage 1 — Informal

Raise it directly

Most concerns are resolved by speaking to the form tutor or subject teacher, usually within 5 working days.

Stage 2 — Formal

Written complaint

A written complaint to the Headteacher is investigated and responded to in writing within 15 working days.

Stage 3 — Panel review

Independent hearing

If unresolved, an independent panel reviews the complaint and issues a final decision within 28 days.

Standards 8

Leadership & management

Clear lines of accountability from our CEO and Headteacher through to Heads of Department, our Designated Safeguarding Lead and our Inclusion & Wellbeing Lead, supported by an ongoing programme of staff training, lesson observation and self-evaluation against these standards.
